Introducing the HUCC

Introducing the HUCC Compassionate Cinema Circle

Looking for something fun and interesting to do on a Friday night?  How about watching a good movie with friends from HUCC?

The HUCC Compassionate Action Ministry invites you to the first film in our on-going Compassionate Cinema Circle (CCC) series!  We'll show a film every other month on a Friday evening that will increase our understanding and compassion for all people in the world and help us learn ways to get involved in various related social justice issues in a casual, fun atmosphere.  Our faith demands that we extend understanding and love to all people, and increasing our awareness through film is one way to do this.

The CCC film series isn't a class.  Rather, it's an opportunity to watch a good movie with friends, enjoy some refreshments, and discuss the film as you care to afterward.   A rewarding way to spend a Friday evening.  Please join us!

Our first film, The Temple Grandin Story, will be shown on Friday, October 14 in Mac Hall.

Doors open at 7:15 pm and the movie starts at 7:30.  Coffee and tea will be provided.  You are invited to bring a snack, dessert or other beverage to share (in addition to soft drinks, beer and wine are acceptable).  The film will run until about 9 pm.  Friends welcome!

HBO's highly acclaimed "The Temple Grandin Story" received several Golden Globe and Emmy Awards in 2010.   The film paints a picture of a young woman's perseverance and determination while struggling with the isolating challenges of autism at a time when it was still quite unknown.   Undaunted by education, social and professional roadblocks, Grandin turned her unique talent into an animal behavioral tool that revolutionized the cattle industry and laid the groundwork for her successful career as an author, lecturer and pioneering advocate for autism and autism spectrum disorder education.

More information on this remarkable woman can be found at www.templegrandin.com and at TED.

Finally, Ms. Grandin will be in Salt Lake City next month!
Thursday, November 3:
12:30 pm to 2:30 pm - Book Signing at Art Access and viewing of the Grandin Temple photo exhibit
7 p.m. - Keynote at Rose Wagner and presentation of the Peek Award, immediately followed by a book signing in the Lobby.
